One of the three Jyotirlinga temples in Maharashtra is Triambakeshawar temple, with the other two being Bhimshankar Temple and Grishneshwar Temple.
There are totally 12 jyotirlinga temple dotted across India, which are considered to be very sacred among all the Shiva temples. Trimbakeshwar temple is
flocked by devotees round the year, most prominent of all. Tri means Three and the embodiment of the Trimbakeshwar is believed to include the powers of all the Three Gods,
Brahma,Vishnu and Siva, symbolized by the Three Faces in the Linga idol. The gorgeous crown covering the idol is believed
to be existing since the period of Pandavas of the great epic Mahabahrath. The crown is displayed during 4 to 5 pm on every Monday,
which is considered to be an auspicious event. Trimbakeshwar temple is built completely with black stone and is located at the foothills of the Brahmagiri mountain, the origin
point for three rivers including Mighty Godavari, takes course exactly from the place called Kusavarta. The temple is at a distance
of 28km from Nashik city, constructed during 17th century and the presiding deity is believed to be a self-manifested one. Simhasta Kumbh Mela is the most important of all festivals celebrated in Trimbakeshwar temple, conducted once in Twelve years.
Millions of devotees visit the temple during this festival and take bath in River Godavari to wash away their sins. Maha Shivaratri, which normally falls between February and March every year is celebrated in a grand manner, witnessing thousands
of devotees. The elaborate rituals, discourses, concerts happening overnight will truly be a divine experience. Trimbakeshwar temple is kept open from 5.30AM to 9 PM on all days.
