Also called as Shani Shinganpur temple, housing the presiding deity as Lord Shaniswar or Shanidev, the Shani Shingnapur temple is a very popular temple in Maharashtra. Flocked by huge number of devotees round the year, Lord Shanidev is believed to clear the barriers which have been the hurdles for the devotees’ progress in their lives.

Specialty:

The presiding deity is present in a platform, staged in the open air. The huge black rock statue measuring about five and half feet tall, is said to be a self-manifested one. There is no shelter for the presiding deity and there is no priest assigned to do the poojas. The devotees themselves can do the anointing and poojas for the deity. And the people in the village Shingnapur strongly believe that Lord Shani Dev protects them all the time. So, there is no doors for the houses in the temple and people don’t have any safety vaults to keep their valuables.

Festivals:

Many festivals are celebrated at a grand scale in Shani Shingnapur temple. Shani Amavasya(no moon day happens to be a Saturday), Shani Jeyanthi(the day when the self-manifested form of Lord Shani is said to have appeared in the present location) are the two most prominent of all festivals in this temple. Processions, anointing the idol with Panchamrut and Gangajal are the significant events during these celebrations.

The Shani Dev temple is kept opened between 5am to 10pm on all days of the year.

How To Reach Shani Shingnapur Temple?

Shingnapur village is situated at around 6km from Ghodegaon on the Aurangabad to Ahmednagar Road. The other geographical locations are, the village is 65kms from Shirdi, 35kms from Ahmednagar and 84kms from Aurangabad.

Mumbai and Pune are the airports nearest to Shingnapur. Ahmedagar and Belapur are the easily accessible railheads from where cabs can be hired to reach the temple.
