Bhadrachalam Temple Telangana
A powerful vaishnavite temple which is bounded by river Godavari is Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy where the most powerful God Maha Vishnu embodied in the form of Lord Sri Rama situated in the town of bhadrachalam, part of bhadadri kothagudem district in the Indian state Telangana.
It is the most prominent pilgrimage visited by thousands of tourists every day. After a visit to this temple, it is sure that the people would become ardent devotees of Him. The name of the place is derived from bhadragiri (mountain of bhadra – a blessed child of meru and menaka). This holy shrine is considered as one among the Divya kshetram on the banks of river Godavari and it is esteemed as “ayodhya of south India”.

History of the Temple
After being worshipped for many years, the idols got engulfed in the forest and later it was found by a tribal woman who built a small shrine for the Lord. In later stages, the temple was expanded to the present day structure by a man called Kancherla Gopanna, who was a Tahsildar in the King Abuk Hussian Shah.
As he was an ardent devotee of Lord Rama, he spent a portion of the tax collected from the citizens and built the temple. There are so many stories revolving around him that Lord Rama himself repaid the money spent by Gopanna to the King and the King endowed the temple with villages around the temple.
Speciality of the Temple
According to Hindu Philosophy, Bhadrachalam temple foreruns to the Ramayana epoch. Lord Rama on His way to find his abducted wife Sita, found a stone which was uninterruptedly vocalizing “Ram Ram Ram”. Rama with his divine hands touched the stone once. To their surprise, the stone transformed into a man who was the son of Meru (the spiritual mountain with five peaks), Bhadra.
Rama gave a word to bhadra that he would return back to him when he would rescue sita from king Ravana. Badra continued worshipping Rama and waited for His arrival. Pleased with his hard penance, Lord Rama appeared in the form of Maha Vishnu and self –manifested himself in the present location.

The temple opens at 6AM and closes at 8:30PM.
