The history of Warangal starts from the 12th century when Kakatiya dynasty ruled here with Warangal as the important power centre. Delhi Sultanate, Musunuri Nayaks and Bahmani Sultanate were the subsequent rulers in Warangal and the trend continued till the country’s independence when Warangal became a part of Andhra Pradesh and later merged with Telangana state.
