Sithananda Swamy Temple
Introduction
The Sithananda Swamy temple is a Hindu temple and s dedicated to the worship of Sithananda Swamy and is a popular temple in Pondicherry.
History of the Temple
According to the temple history, Sidananda Swamy was born in the place called Vandipalayam near Thirupathiripuliyur. After coming to the Padaleswar temple, he became a Sadhu in the temple. A person named Muthukumaraswamy Pillai who stays at Pondicherry came to know about the Swami. He requested the swami to come to Pondicherry and bless his wife who was suffering from an illness for a long time. The Swami went to his home and blessed his wife who recovered. Caught in the beauty of Pondicherry the Swami decided that he would stay there.
Speciality of the Temple
The famous Tamil poet, Bharathiar visited this temple and wrote his popular song, Kuil Pattu when he visited the orchard adjacent to the temple. This temple is an important place as it was here where Sidananda Swamy buried himself inside (Jeeva Samathi). A Shiva temple was built over his Samathi and people believe that this would give them peace and happiness.

The temples functions on all days from 6.00 am to 8.00 pm.
Dress Code to visit the temple
No specific dress code is recommended for a visit to this temple. Still, costumes covering upper arms and legs are suggested as a mark of respect to the temple customs.
Festivals in the temple
Maha Shivaratri, Annabishekam, Guru Poojai and the 108 Sankabishekam are celebrated here with pomp and fanfare.
