Joan Of Arc Statue Monuments
Titled as the Maid of Orleans, Joan of Arc was a Roman Catholic saint who turned to become the heroine of France. She received a vision form God instructing her to support Charles VII to be crowned as the king of France and liberate France from the English dominion of the Hundred Year war. After she had met with Charles VII, she was sent to the siege of Orleans as one part of a relief mission. After her arrival there, the siege was lifted in nine days. She was then hailed by the French. During a war she was captured by the Burgundians and was later burned at the stake on false accounts in the age of 19.
Twenty five years after the death of Joan, she was declared innocent and proved to be a martyr. Owing to the French colonization of Pondicherry, a statue of Joan of Arc was set up in the center of a garden facing the Church of Our Lady of Angels in Pondicherry, India. This life size monument is made out of white marble and was a gift by the French industrialist Francois Gaudart.
