Built in an European Castle style with French – Chateau architecture, which is very unique, Amar Mahal Palace was raised in 1862. The location is so ecstatic that the building overlooks Tawi river, with the majestic Shivali Hills on the other bank, is just a sight of grandeur to behold.

The palace is partially converted into a museum and arranged with various artifacts depicting the ancient history of Jammu. The most prominent of all artifacts is the Golden Throne, weighing 120kgs of made pure gold. The whopping throne in display attracts everyone visiting the palace.

  • Four rooms of Amar Mahal Palace are arranged as Art Gallery and Museum.
  • Life Sized portraits of Dogra Dynasty rulers are on display
  • Dasavatara, the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu and popular events from the great Hindu Epic Mahabharatha are arranged beautifully
  • The erstwhile living quarters of Maharani is preserved as it is , with silver bed, antique furniture, Crown and other clothings are kept undisturbed.
  • All the paintings can be seen from outside glass panes.
  • Amar Mahal Palace is functional in two different schedules depending on the season.
