Keshava Temple has religious and historical importance. It is not only a place of worship for devotees but also a testament to the beautiful architecture of the Hoysala dynasty. The temple is believed to have been built by King Narasimha III's minister Somanatha Dandanayaka and was completed in 1268 AD. The building of the temple reflects the unique Hoysala style, characterized by beautiful images, detail- sculptures and carvings. It is considered one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

You will be spell bound to see the beautiful statues in the temple. The main attraction in Keshava temple is the large statue of Krishna holding a flute and another statue of lord Vishnu who will be in the form of Janardhana – An epithet of lord Vishnu. There are many other statue of lord Vishnu which especially at the central shrine which reflects the architectural grandeur.
