The 100 feet lighthouse was built in 1901 and it is open from 5.30 am to 6.30 am

The spiral staircase of the lighthouse becomes steeper during the ascend toward the top of the lighthouse.

The name “Kapus” is after the tribes that had served as sentinels for the surrounding land.

Maharani Roshni was the queen of the Kapus Tribe.

The tribal people dance for the Jingalala song every evening.

It was once a Jain Kshetra with a lot of Jain Monasteries.

Best Time to Visit:

Winters are the best time to visit Kaup Beach in Udupi. October to February is the best time to visit this beach. Temperature ranges from 10 - 30 degrees Celsius. However, during March, Rama Navami is celebrated. Other than that, Holi, Shivratri, and Dussehra are celebrated with a lot of pomp. Every two years, Paryaya festival is celebrated in Udupi Krishna Temple supported by the joyous folklores, dance, and music. From July to September, Udupi has average to above average rainfall. Pre-monsoon is a good time to capture the exact charm of Udupi. Summers are hotter still evenings are cold, the best time for admiring the sunset and taking part in water sports.

 By Air -  The nearest airport to Kaup is in Mangalore. Hiring a taxi is the best option to get to the destination 40 km away.

 By Rail -  The nearest railway station to Kaup is at a distance of 18 km.

By Road: Kaup Beach is connected well with Karnataka’s major cities. Traveling from Bangaluru via road is a good option to get enthralled by nature amidst the enchanting route.
