All is well in South India
This is about Kerala and other important updates from South Tourism.
After the massive floods, Kerala recovered in a fast pace and things were coming along absolutely fine. Right on time, KTM was launched and it turned out to be a great rescue for the state and a key driver of a ravaged economy. As expected, KTM was very successful and the platform was utilized well by the Kerala stakeholders showcasing the newly built Kerala to the rest of the world in a reassuring way. So it was all a positive move for the tourism industry on the whole until last week.
The Issue of red alert on 7th October, forecasting heavy rain in Kerala & Tamil Nadu, triggered again panic among the inbound tourists and led to many cancellations. Though the red alert was declared as a false alarm, it had already done the required damage to the tourism industry.
Being a South Indian, I would like to reiterate the reality in the ground. There has been a very moderate rainfall in South India as part of monsoon season which is very normal during this period and now the Sun is shining in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. So there is nothing concerning and you may please reassure your clients to reinstate their trip to South India and have a fantastic journey.
Nehru Trophy Boat Race 2018:
Please note that the Kerala Government rescheduled the boat race due to floods and now they have announced the new date as 10th November 2018.
As planned earlier, Cricket Icon Sachin Tendulkar is going to be the Chief Guest for the event.
Let us support Kerala by promoting this event in a huge way as it will definitely help the flood-hit economy of Kerala to revive.

Toy Train rates revised:
UNESCO certified Toy train is being operated in routes covering Mettupalayam to Coonoor, Ooty to Coonoor, Mettupalayam to Ooty.
From 10th October onwards the prices of the Toy Train have been revised and the increase is exactly 4 times from the existing rate. So please take care while you quote to your clients.
Dasara festival at Mysore:
The Hindu festival of Dasara, the victory of good over the evil is the inspiration behind this biggest festival celebrated in Mysore for continuous 10 days with cultural programs organised every day. It is very popular among the people all over the world. The entire city of Mysore gets itself up to celebrations that include a majestic procession, dance, music, varieties of cultural activities and a torch light parade. The Mysore Palace is lit up on all the 10 days of Dasara. This festival attracts a large audience from all over the world every year.
Please note due to Dasara festival, Mysore palace remains closed for public/ tourist on 18th October 2018 from 10:00am to 2:30pm & FULL day on 19th October 2018 and on 2nd November 2018 from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
Increase in South Tourism Fleet:
Please note we have taken delivery of 3 new Tempo Travelers (11 seater) & 3 new Tempo Travelers (14 Seater) and 5 new Crysta’s.
We are expecting 3 more Large Coaches delivery by end of this month.
