Visakhapatnam Victory At Sea War Memorial - Andhra Pradesh
Renowned as "The City of Destiny", Visakhapatnam is a very special place in the state of Andhra Pradesh which has witnessed the Victory of our country during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war.
Indian Navy and Eastern Naval Command sailors played a substantial role in this Indo-Pak war. During the liberation war in East Pakistan in the year 1971, the Pakistan Navy earmarked the Port of Visakhapatnam in order to destroy the Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. But they were very unfortunate that their submarine PNS Ghazi was sunk by the Indian Navy at the coast of Visakhapatnam. And thus, India won the first battle victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war.
To commemorate this proud moment and to honour the brave and courageous war heroes, the Victory at Sea War Memorial was set up in the year 1996. Built in the close vicinity of the famous Ramakrishna Beach and the INS Kursura Submarine Museum, this sensational War Memorial is an epitome of Patriotism as well as an admiring tourist attraction in Visakhapatnam.
