Nagalapuram trekking camp is a dream come true for all adventure lovers. Nagalapuram is a sublime small village located in the outskirts of Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

This trekking trail is very near to the world famous Tirupathi temple, located at the distance of 70 km from the Tirupathi town. From Chennai Nagalapuram village is located approximately at the distance of 90km.

The origin of the trail begins at the Arai village, which is 15km interior from Nagalapuram village. Trekker prefer to trail from the Nagala dam, at where the trekkers start their camping and trekking.

The trek is not an easy one as it contains lots of bumps, twist and turns. The path is rough and protruded with lots of boulders, rocks and stones.

It is advisable to let know the Nagalpuram Police station about your trekking expedition, as they would be very helpful in the case of emergency and to ensure your safety.

Specialty:

The Nagalapuram trail can be trekked either ways, both from east-to-west or west-to-east. It is a one-day trek, makes it more enjoyable and fun filled.

Nagalapuram trek is mostly preferred as a weekend hangout spot with friends, and so it is visited by many youngsters on weekends.

The trail is just 13km long and can be easily trekked within a day. It takes about 2-3 hours to ascent the hill.

The trail is filled with lavish beauty of Mother Nature. The tall lush trees spread out like a canopy and makes it very easy for the trekkers to trail even in midnoon.

The trail winds up along silver cascades, milky waterfalls, and fresh refreshing water pools.

Take a relaxing bath in these natural water bodies and charge yourself for the further trek. As the trail elevates, it passes along beautiful meadows, with steep rocky fortifications. These spots are great for clicking some memorable photos.

The most important part of the trail is the gullies that get very steep and narrower at many points, which makes it a challenging task to climb.

Activities to do:

Most fascinating sights in this trek is the spots where the milky waterfalls descend down into magnificent water pools.

Three water pools never dry even in scorching summer and so it is known as the magic pools.

Two of the pools are very shallow and crystal clear, so it is very safe even children. But the final water pool is 30 feet deep and is quite dangerous.

Pro swimmers can enjoy diving into pool from the surrounding cliffs, but for other it is not advisable to swim. While trekking pack your backpack with sufficient food, water, medicines, and extra pair of clothes.

Best Time to Visit :

The path throughout the trek is engulfed in lush greens, wild forest and water streams. So, planning your trek during the month of summer would be very relaxing and it would be a great escape from the scorching sun. Winter can also be a better time to do trekking at Nagalapuram trail. Monsoon can be better avoiding for trekking, as during these rainy days the trail would be very slippery and hard to have grip.

Way to Reach:

 By Air -  The nearest Airport is in Tirupati which is 57 km away from Chittor and from Chittor, Nagalapuram is less than 100 km. A pleasant private taxi ride would do!

 By Rail -  Hyderabad, Tirupati, and Chennai are connected to Chittoor Railway Station.

By Road: Andhra Pradesh State Tourism Corporation (APSTC) connects most of the South Indian Cities. Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Chennai belonging to NH4 connects Chittor district making it easier to visit Nagalapuram.
